The Women's club A club for the women of the complex has been encouraged. This group of women help one another to better their manual hand-craft abilities both for things for their families as well as for those to sell. Our organisation's objective is to stimulate and co-ordinate them by providing a room for meetings and by offering loans with which to finance the purchase of the necessary basic raw materials. The village wells To date six wells have been made functional to provide drinkable water to the six relative villages. Each well supplies drinkable water to 150/200 families and save many children from intestinal infections which are one of the main causes of infant death. The installation of each well costs Euro 4,500. ![]() Village visiting rooms Covered shelters have been built in some villages where the nurses, from the mobile clinic, can visit and care for the sick. The relative village is supplied with the basic raw material such as cement, roofing, doors and windows. The inhabitants of the villages are responsible for making the bricks and erecting and completing the shelter. Preventive and care programme against HIV/AIDS The
problem of HIV/AIDS must be approached with a global vision of the
problem. The knowledge, education, prevention, analysis, cure,
psychologic and moral assistance as well as the care of the orphans
are the main aspects to take into account, with
a global vision,
if we want to take on the challenge and fight against this infection.
Help through the distribution of food Apart from helping the poor in times of scarcity or when in dire need we have allocated land to the local inhabitants so than they can grow, under our help and guidance, their own products. We therefore have a site destined to the hospital workers, to the home care volunteer and so on. The school children's allotment is a different matter since they learn to cultivate products which are necessary for their school canteen. The flour Mill A mill, to grind the maize, is functional and the people pay a modest sum if they have their maize ground there. ![]()
The Carpentry school/workshop Another
part of the puzzle in the creation of the “Lukamantano Village”
has been the construction of the Carpentry school\workshop using the
machinery donated by Mr. Costantino Sana. The first objects to be
made were the shelves, desks and tables for the school so proceeding
to then make chest of drawers, beds and chairs for external
customers. ![]() |
